Services for Persons with Disabilities

The Hazen Memorial Library is fully accessible. Everything is on one level, with good lighting throughout and low pile carpeting to minimize echoes. Our services include:

  • retrieval of shelved materials

Adaptive Equipment and Software

• Kurzweil Text-to-Speech Software
Scans printed material and reads it aloud.
 
• Jaws Software
Reads computer application commands and web pages aloud.
 
• Aladdin Classic Video Magnifier
Displays printed materials in high contrast black on white, or white on black.
 
• TTY
Telephone instrument providing a print out or digital display instead of voice.
 
• Computer with screen magnification and voice
 
• Phonic Ear Easy Listener
Portable listening device to eliminate effects of distance and background noise.
