Patron Registration

Who may use the library?

Anyone may use materials inside the library and may use the library's reference services no matter where they live.

Who may borrow from the library?

Any existing borrower in good standing, or any new borrower covered by the following circumstances may borrow books or other materials from the library:

• Any resident of a Massachusetts town which has a certified library has free borrowing privileges at our library.
• Residents of other states may borrow for free.
• New borrowers are limited to three items each for the first time they borrow

There is no age limit to obtain a library card. Children under the age of 14 should have a parent or guardian's signature on their application card.

Who May Use the Library's Computers?

Any adult or child who has a library card may use the library's computers.

To Get a Library Card

1. You should present your driver's license or another form of identification with your mailing address on it when you register in person at the Hazen Memorial Library for a library card.
2. An application card will be given to you to fill out.
3. If you are under 14 years of age, a parent's signature is required on your application card.

To Reserve Material

You may put a hold on any book, magazine, CD, DVD, Audio Book, or video in the C/W MARS Library catalog by:

1. logging in to your online account here. (Requires your library card number).
2. calling on the telephone at 978/425-2620
3. requesting in person
4. by sending email to Shirley@cwmars.org

Directions to the Hazen Memorial Library

The town of Shirley is located 8 miles west of Route 495 and 2 miles east of Route I90.

From the south, east, or west: Take Route 2 to Exit #36, the Shirley Exit. From West bound, bear right at the end of the ramp. Then make an immediate left onto Shirley/Lancaster Road. From East bound, exit directly onto Shirley/Lancaster Road. (This road is called Shirley Road in Lancaster and then changes to Lancaster Road in Shirley.) Follow this road for 2 miles to the first stop sign. At the stop sign, take a right onto Main Street. Travel 1 mile through Shirley Village. The backside of the Library is on the right. Take a right onto Hospital Road, take a right onto Keady Way. Parking is on the far side of the Library.

If you like to travel back roads, take Route 2A to the Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley. Either right before or right after the restaurant, depending on which direction you are heading, look for the green highway sign that says "Shirley Center" and "Clinton". Take that turn so that you are heading south on Parker Road. Travel 1 mile, at the common in Shirley Center, bear right onto Center Road and follow the signs to Shirley Village. After Center Road crosses the railroad tracks, take a left onto Main Street. Travel on Main Street through Shirley Village for 1 mile. The backside of the Library is on your right. Take a right onto Hospital Road, take a right onto Keady Way. Parking is on the far side of the Library.
